Luca Berti. Mennesket og havet - Haugesund billedgalleri

The exhibitions are the result of the project "Man and the Sea." Haugalandmuseet invited the photographer Luca Berti to carry out a photo documentation project on Feøy, Røvær, Utsira, and Vibrandsøy, capturing both people and landscapes.

The photography took place during the spring and fall of 2023, and the result is now presented in the form of two photography art exhibitions, respectively at Haugesund Art Gallery and at Mikal Klovnings' boathouse on Utsira.

"Photography is a lifestyle, and the project 'Man and Nature' has become my life's work," says Luca Berti. The Italian-Danish photographer is already a familiar name to many in Norway. For years, he has traveled around our vast country on his bicycle, capturing moments through his lens. He has also exhibited and worked in Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Latvia, and Italy. Berti exclusively uses analog cameras, searching for the relationship between the present and the past, human and landscape.

In connection with the project, a beautiful photography art book featuring photographs by Luca Berti, literary texts by author and poet Odd Eirik Sætre Færevåg, and an English summary will be released, priced at NOK 390.

The exhibition project is developed in collaboration with Luca Berti and generously supported by the Knutsen Group.

Opening at Haugesund Art Gallery, Friday, May 24th at 6:00 PM.

The exhibition will be opened by County Cultural Director Kate Irene Jellestad Syvertsen, and Luca Berti will be present. At 6:45 PM, there will be an artist conversation between photographers Luca Berti and Øyvind Hjelmen. Refreshments will be served, and admission is free. Everyone is warmly welcome!

The exhibition will be presented in the Kraftsalen and Otto Johannessen rooms and will run until the end of 2024.
